Rabbi Yonah Gross assumed the position of spiritual leader of the Young Israel of Phoenix on February 1, 2007. He was previously serving as the Senior Rabbinic Intern at the Riverdale Jewish Center in New York.

 While a native of Queens, New York, Rabbi Gross is an alumnus of Yeshiva University and received his ordination from its Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS). He is currently completing coursework for a master’s degree in counseling from Pace University. He has been involved in a wide range of youth and communal outreach programs and recently served as a chaplain at Continuum Hospice Care at the Zicklin Hospice in the Riverdale, NY, the only Jewish residential hospice in the nation.

 In addition to the required course of study for ordination from RIETS, Rabbi Gross did special work in the areas of Taharas Mishpacha, the laws of family purity. He took part in a unique program in the area of infertility that was arranged through a partnership between Yeshiva University’ Center for the Jewish Future and “Machon Puah –Fertility in Accordance with Halacha.”

 Rabbi Gross was married to Chava in March of 2005 and was blessed with a son, Yehoshua in June of 2006. Chava, who works as a Pharmacist, comes from Teaneck, New Jersey.
